Founded in 2000 by Kent Lewis, Anvil Media, Inc. (Anvil) is a search engine marketing (SEM) agency specializing in search engine optimization (SEO), pay-per-click (PPC) management, search engine marketing public relations (SEM PR), online reputation management (ORM) and social media optimization (SMO) services.
Anvil’s clients benefit from a broad array of services designed to increase revenue and decrease costs while supporting branding and marketing initiatives. Anvil is continually building relationships with strategic marketing partners to better service existing clients and further boost ROI.
The origins of Anvil can be traced back to 1996, when Kent Lewis created a free weekly email newsletter covering the Internet industry. Anvil evolved over the years into a monthly ezine "unencumbered by relevance" that is less self-promotional and more of a creative outlet. After leaving an agency he helped co-found in 1999, Lewis decided to hang a shingle of his own and elected to stick with a name that had built-in equity. In 2004, he hired the first full-time employee and began to grow the company. Since then, the company has doubled its size and revenue each year.
As a serial entrepreneur, Lewis constantly explores new opportunities to leverage the Anvil brand and resources. In 2000, he founded pdxMindShare, a filtered-networking event focusing on creating meaningful professional connections. Lewis has also been an adjunct professor at Portland State University since 2000 and sits on multiple industry organization boards. He also co-founded eROI in 2002 to better service clients with email marketing needs. Most recently, Lewis co-founded and is President of SEMpdx, a trade organization for SEM professionals.
