The Organisation Européenne pour la Recherche Nucléaire (English: European Organization for Nuclear Research), commonly known as CERN, is the world's largest particle physics laboratory, situated just west of Geneva on the border between France and Switzerland. It is also known for being the place where Tim Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web.
