From the "Google Hacks" website of Google employee, Douwe Osinga:

"Think of the .ianal (I am not a lawyer) domain as part of Internet filled with the old freedoms, protected by a giantic shrink wrap license. If you enter, you declare that you're not a lawyer or at least won't behave like a lawyer, that is you cannot use any information you'll find on this part of the Internet to sue anybody, not pass the information on to anybody without making sure this new person doesn't agree to the same license.

"This is a joke, right? Partly. I fear that something like this is possible under the DMCA or the new European EU IP Enforcement directive. If so, I think we really do need a .ianal top level domain. Please sign the register. As soon as I have 10 000 names, I'll start campaigning..."
