ISOC-NY is the Greater New York Metropolitan Area chapter of the Internet Society (ISOC).

The mission of (ISOC-NY) is:
- in support of ISOC, to assure the beneficial, open evolution of the global Internet,
- to promote local initiatives, maximize the societal benefits which the Internet can bring to the New York area, and
- to advance the professional development of ISOC members in the New York area.

ISOC-NY meets monthly at NYU plus holds occasional special events.

[edit] ICANN involvement
ISOC-NY is a longstanding member of the NCUC constituency. Our rep. Danny Younger stepped down in 2007. Our new reps. - Aaron Williamson and Erin Simon - will become active in Fall 2008.
As of July 2008 ISOC-NY has been accepted as an At-Large Structure in the NARALO.
We have a recently formed ICANN Special Interest Group
