puntCAT is the organization established to manage the .CAT top-level domain, the first cultural and linguistic gTLD addressed to the needs of the Catalan language and Culture in the Internet. It is an association of business, academia and cultural groups. Having acheived its objective (the .cat TLD), the Associacion is now integrated in Fundació puntCAT, a non-for-profit foundation whose main objective is to manage the .cat domain registry and to develop the Information Society among the Catalan speakers workwide.
.cat had its sunrise on February 13th 2006 and in 10 months has achieved 19000 valid domains and more than 3,5 milion web pages and documents.
