The African Network Information Centre (AFRINIC) is a non-governmental and not-for-profit membership based organization. [[Fadi Chehadé]], expanding on previous CEO [[Rod Beckstrom]]'s work, made reaching out to the international world a major priority, which notably entailed requiring new staff hires to speak 2 languages and personal and staff tours to promote ICANN and its [[New gTLD Program]]. It seemed through the way he talked about the current level of outreach and engagement and the lack of results that he believed that previous efforts were not substantial enough.
