The key instrument in this context consists of returning experts who use the professional qualifications or experience they have acquired in Germany to promote development in their country of origin after their return. Assigning these experts so that they can apply their knowledge, experience and networks in the right place can make a contribution to sustainable development in their countries of origin or assignment, and help step up economic and scientific cooperation. By supporting returning experts, the Migration for Development Program provides targeted assistance for transferring development know-how to developing, emerging and transition countries.
