As Director General of APNIC, Wilson is primarily involved in the different activities and meetings of ICANN. He represents the views and interests and the support of the organization regarding the different issues and policies of the international internet governing body. For example in 2008, Wilson wrote to then ICANN Chairman [[Peter Dengate Thrush]] and President & CEO [[Paul Twomey]] expressing APNIC's unanimous support regarding ICANN's decision to sign the root zone of the Domain Names System ([[DNS]]) using the [[DNSSEC]]to improve the stability and security of the internet and requested that it should be done as soon as possible once all issues are resolved.<ref>[http://www.icann.org/en/correspondence/wilson-to-dengate-thrush-28aug08.pdf APNIC Community Request to Sign the DNS Root]</ref>
