After enjoying exclusive right to sell [[.au]] domains for 5 years, MelbourneIT signed a license agreement with .au Domain Administration ([[auDA]]) on July 12th, 2001. It was reported that MelbourneIT's Chief Executive, Professor [[Peter Gerrand]], claimed that the deal 'extended [[MelbourneIT]]'s guarantee of exclusivity'.
