Delegation is a term that, in the Domain Name industry, refers to the process of entering a new Top Level Domain into the Root Zone of the Internet. The Root Zone is the authoritative database for the Internet, and entering a new TLD finalizes the process of making the TLD "live" on the web. It is a process that is facilitated by ICANN and IANA.
