==Background of the .moscow (.москва) Project==
In 2010, the [[Coordination Center for TLD RU-CENTER]] (CC for TLD RU), the registry operator of the a leading Russian [[.ru]] [[ccTLD]] and [[.РФDomain Name]] [[IDNRegistrar]] ccTLD, initiated the [[.moscow]] ([[.москва]]) project. The CC for TLD RU -CENTER proposed the project to different government agencies in Moscow, and suggested the creation of a special community council to administer it.<ref>[ RU-CENTER has announced the idea of TLDs .MOSCOW and .МОСКВА implementation]</ref>
Following the CC for TLD RU-CENTER's proposal, the Moskovskiy Komsomolets, one of the leading newspapers in Russia, launched a survey about the project on its website to poll public opinion. The survey ran from September 2 until October 1, 2010. <ref>[ A poll in the support of TLDs .MOSCOW and .МОСКВА started on the “Moskovskiy Komsomolets” website]</ref> Thousands of citizens responded and supported the project. Since the inception of the .moscow (.москва) project, it has been presented at different international Internet conferences and symposiums, and notably during ICANN meetings.
