Since the very inception of Internet in Indiain 1998, he has been working in this a part of the industry. He was one of the first [[ISP|Internet Service Providers ]] of India. From there he started contributing to the Internet community as an Executive Council member of ISP Association of India (ISPAI) since 2001. Since 2006, he has been the president of ISPAI.<ref>[]</ref>
He ensure ensures the presence of India in the [[APNIC]] by nominating and supporting election of a ISPAI representative to the EC of APNIC.<ref>[]</ref>
He Rajesh has also managed National, Regional (SE Asia, Asia Pacific) and International events. He supervised the fist first [[IPv6]] tutorial in New Dehli. In the year 2007, he oversaw SANOG 10, which was a very successful training program. In the same year, as the 1st time Internet event President of Asia-Pacific magnitudeISPAI, Chharia hosted [[APNIC 24]] in New Dehli, which was also hosted at that time the biggest Internet event to be held in New Delhi under his Presidentship of ISPAIthe Asia-Pacific region.<ref>[]</ref>
He was the a co-founder of National Internet Exchange of India ([[NIXI]] (National Internet Exchange of India). NIXI is , a non profit organization that reprensents represents all stake holders stakeholders managing the exchange point and domain registry in India. NIXI also supports Internet infrastructure in India like 3 root servers within India, and have IPv6 Test Beds in leading metros of India. <ref>[]</ref>
In 2008 he hosted [[ICANN]] in 2008 and [[IGF]] 2008. He is also a Member for Taxes as of the Regional Advisory Committee (RAC), of Central Excise & Service Tax under the Government of India's Ministry of Finance, Govt. of India.<ref>[]</ref>
