.llp is a proposed new gTLD in ICANN's New gTLD Program, generally intended for use by limited liability partnerships.

  1. Dot Registry LLC, (Community Applicant) founded by Ephraim Gershon. The company plans to restrict the registration of .llp domain names to legally registered entities in the United States to avoid a possible objection from the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS). The organization expressed concerns to ICANN regarding company-themed TLDs and requested the internet governing body to approve registry operators that are "legally and appropriately registered with the Secretaries of State or the equivalent state agency" including the registration of domain names. Neustar has been selected by the company to provide its back-end registry solutions.[1][2] [3]

Community Application

In June 2014 a Community Priority Evaluation (CPE) panel decided that the only Community applicant for .llp, Dot Registry LLC, would not prevail as a community applicant, giving them a 5 out of 16 possible points (14 are needed to pass). Thus the applicant will now have to resolve the contention set through other means such as a Private or ICANN auction.[4]
