Services

Amongst the services offered by Smart Hydro Power GmbH include the Smart Turbine, Smart Packages, Smart Energy Management Systems and Smart Services and Auxiliaries.

Smart Turbines: These are turbines for rivers and canals which allow for the introduction of a base load supply, are easy to install and maintain, require minimal space structure, lead to low infrastructural costs as no dams are required, they have no environmental impact and have a minimal audible disturbance.[4]

Smart Packages: SMART Packages were created as standardized solutions for rural electrification, consisting of a combination of different energy sources, electrical components, and appliances. These plug-and-play distributed generation installations are available either with only solar sources or alternatively as hybrids with both solar and hydrokinetic turbines. They may be connected to irrigation pumps, water treatment systems, and many other appliances depending on the local needs.[5]

Smart Energy Management Systems: Smart Hydro Power offers the complete service related to site analysis, training, and measurement services. As a decentralized energy system often generates excess power, instead of throwing this power away, Smart Hydro Power GmbH uses auxiliary devices such as, water purifiers, water pumps, ice makers, coolers and many more, as alternative ways to store energy.[6]

Projects

Smart Hydro Power recently signed a deal for thirteen additional kinetic water turbines in Nigeria, after the successful installation of two turbines at the end of 2013.The third SMART turbine from the previous order in Nigeria was installed in a remote village near the town of Akwanga. This newest installation provides year-round energy for seven households close to the river Mada, even during the dry season.[7]

In October 2014, Smart Hydro Power installed a SHP hybrid system in the small village of Marisol, Peru.[8]

Smart Hydro Power has a hybrid system installed in the heart of Munich which functions both as a testing and demonstration site since 2011.[9]

Smart Hydro Power has an installation near Munich which is constantly testing the newest upgrades to the Monofloat hydrokinetic turbine.[10]

Smart Hydro Power has an installation in the outflow of a hydroelectric dam in Salvajinas, Valley of Cauca. It is one of three international tests sites for the company.[11]
