'''Mili Semlani''' is a tech, policy and business journalist. She has reported in and about the Asian region with work assignments in India, Hong Kong, Indonesia, and Singapore. Founder and Chair of Youth4IG, she aspires to build Asia's largest youth movement in Internet Governance. Its key goals include generating awareness and capacity building for youth to join the Internet governance ecosystem and continue to actively participate in the policy-making process. It is a home for youth in the Asia-Pacific region (APAC) to meet, share ideas, and contribute to the multi-stakeholder policy-making process for IG.

My voluntary experience with Internet and Communication Technology (ICT) and IG policy space started as a Netmission Ambassador in 2013 where I was part of the pilot team to introduce youth participation at ICANN and other IG forums. Since 2014 my involvement has grown as a devoted volunteer and fellow at regional forums, ISOC chapter (Mumbai), yIGF, APrIGF (Member of MSG and Co-chair of Program Committee), IGF, and YCIG (Youth Coalition on Internet Governance).
She has been involved in the IG space since 2014 as a youth ambassador (NetMission). That has also given her insights in recognizing and addressing barriers for youth to participate and stay engaged in regional, local and international forums as a youth ambassador and fellow at local and regional IG forums. Her work with the IGF Secretariat on BPF Gender and Access also enhanced her knowledge and interest in topics related to gender and ICT with a special focus on how ICT can be used to fight gender issues in developing Asian economies. She worked with established lawyers, academic and technical experts to manage Internet governance projects with a multidisciplinary approach. Combining her skills as a journalist and content producer with her passion for public policy and interest in technology issues; it also gave her the ability to engage with various stakeholders of the multistakeholder process and formulate innovative programs to manage youth groups and volunteers leading change globally with a special focus on APAC.

In my current role as a Consultant, I am working on two output papers in conjunction with the volunteer teams of Best Practice Forum for Gender and Access and Connecting and Enabling the Next Billion- Phase III (CENB)– intersessional activities of the Internet Governance Forum. I work with established lawyers, academic and technical experts in this domain to synthesize their views for their relevant publications. Combining my skills as a journalist and content producer with my passion for public policy and interest in technology issues; it has proved to be an enriching experience. It also gave me the ability to engage with various stakeholders of the multistakeholder process through the course of drafting the output papers, conducting respective sessions at IGF 2017 and working with volunteers of the Best Practice Forum (BPF) hailing from diverse stakeholder groups.
She was a fellow at APrIGF 2017 and 2019, [[ICANN 63]], [[ICANN 66]] and inSIG 2018. Since then she has been an active MSG member and co-chair of the Program Committee that organizes APrIGF. As a part of PC, she works on the sub-themes, main themes, and workshop guidelines, and program evaluation each year. She is a member of the Drafting Committee at MSG and worked on the Synthesis Document presented at IGF each year.

As a media professional, I could instantly notice the lack of effective media and communication (especially with respect to IG policies at international and regional levels) both to and from the masses, thus diluting the virtues of openness and inclusivity that the Internet ecosystem aims to thrive on. Living in emerging cities in Asia has also exposed my understanding to a greater level of public needs and mentalities at the grassroots level, thus enhancing my communication skills. I want to progress my career towards social issues, development and public policy with the help of digital media and journalism skills I have gained to bridge this gap in the Internet ecosystem.
She is keen to develop my participation in the spheres of youth at ICT, women in IG and media development in IG.
