Frans Gerbosch is a member of the Advisory Committee with the Public Interest Registry[1], a managing partner at NWX Projex Ltd., the owner of EUSIP bvba, and also an independant Internet consultant with his firm, FraGerCo.
As a result of his different positions, he has a wide network of contacts within the European ISP market, but also within the Belgian Government.
Background[edit | edit source]
Frans first became involved in the Internet in January, 1995, through one of the first Belgian ISP's, HookOn. He structured the organization and took care of the daily management.
In 1997, he was one of the founders of the Belgian XS4ALL Internet NV, an ISP with a focus on small and medium sized enterprises. He worked as its CEO for 3.5 years. Meanwhile, in December 1998, XS4ALL became a subsidiary of the Dutch Telecom operator KPN.
The Federation of Belgian ISP's ISPA asked him to join the board in 1999. In 2000, he was elected as Vice-President, a position he held until the moment he left XS4ALL in July.
By the end of 2000, he started offering his services as independent strategic consultant at different major Belgian and international Internet and telecom investment companies. Beginning in 2001, he supported CBel with the launch of the housing and co-location project Rack66. In 2002, he was co-founder of the Belgian Internet Broadband Applications Platform, which began as an initiative of the Belgian Ministry of Telecommunications, with the main goal to foster broadband development in Belgium. In September, 2003, he was elected secretary.
In 2003, he co-founded EUSIP bvba, which continued the housing & hosting project Rack66 as an independent company. EUSIP bvba is an official Registrar of RIPE, the Belgian ccTLD .be, the European TLD .eu, and the Dutch ccTLD .nl.
Frans then co-founded NWX Projex LTD that offers website engineering and Internet based application development.
September, 2006, Mr. Gerbosch was asked to become a non-executive director of WiMax Europe, which is located in Ireland.
December, 2006, Frans joined the Registrar-Forum of the Belgian ccTLD .be.
March, 2007, he was elected as a member of the Advisory Board of PIR, the Public Interest Registry, and reserve member of the .eu Council of Conduct.
May, 2007, Frans co-founded Oxopia NV. And later he was one of the founders of Belgian ICT Arbitration & Mediation (BICTAM) Organization, which aims to offer arbitration and mediation services in ICT.
In July he decided to join the board of Vadro NV, a Belgian Videoproduction Company.
November, 2007, he was asked to join the Belgian chapter of the OpenDocSociety.

As a result of this engagement and experience he was asked as a member of the jury of the Belgian selection of the World Summit Award (WSA) of 2005 and also in 2007.
April, 2007, Frans was appointed Chair of the Election committee of ISOC-ECC.
