Cloud Registry is a TLD registry back-end technology and service provider based in Sydney, Australia. Cloud Registry aims to redefine registry operations by providing a flexible and complete solution for TLD operators.[1]
On December 6, 2011, Cloud Registry, along with its Japanese partner GMO Registry, won the approval of the Tokyo metropolitan government to operate the planned .tokyo gTLD.[2]
History[edit | edit source]
Cloud Registry was founded in 2009 by Wil Tan and Andrew Douglas. It has its headquarters in Sydney, Australia.
In November, 2011, it was announced that Cloud Registry had teamed with Sedari and CoCCA to apply for the proposed .sydney and .melbourne GeoTLDs. They are submitting a joint application to the governments of New South Wales and Victoria, which announced requests for proposals the previous month. Cloud Registry would run the back-end, while Sedari handled the back-office functions and CoCCA provided knowledge gained through its experience as a ccTLD platform.[3]
