Mactar Seck is an Economic Affairs Officer at Subregional Office for Eastern Africa.[1] He is a senior researcher. He researched on image compression systems and developed one. He was appointed the executive secretary of the Supreme Council of Industry of Senegal in 1998.[2]

Career History edit

Mactar has worked in Engineer and design group TDF-C2R, France Telecom (France) in 1991-1993. He was a Researcher at Sonatel (National Telecommunications Company of Senegal) in 1994-1995. He remained Head of Forecasting and Innovation SONATEL 1995-1996. Through 1996 to 1998 he was the Head of the Department of Teleservices SONATEL. He is the main rapporteur for ITU-D.[3]

He is an executive member of The e-Africa Commission.[4] He is a member of a yahoo group named nici3secretariat.[5] He is also Member of the Board ADF (African Development Forum) of the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA).[6]

Mactar's participation in almost every event related to African internet development can be observed very easily. He attended workshops related to information society in Rwanda on 18-19 May, 2006 in kigali.[7] He participates in a summit of leaders interested in ICT (information and communication technology) development in Africa held in Kigali on 29-30 October 2007.[8] Mactar participated in ICANN meeting in 2008 held in Paris.[9] He took part in The Second Science with Africa Conference.[10] Recent meetings and conferences he was present in, are:
