Artemis Internet Inc. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of NCC Group Plc, a company based in Manchester providing Information Technology (IT) assurance through escrow, verification, security and software testing, audit, and website performance solutions. The company was created by NCC Group to administer the application and operations of the .secure gTLD, which is intended to provide a highly secure and trustworthy Internet sector for users worldwide. The company developed a Domain Policy Working, composed of leading financial, software and social media companies, to help develop requirements and standards for websites under the proposed domain name string. [1]

The company chose ARI Registry Services to provide back-end registry services for .secure. According to Alex Stamos, Chief Technology Officer of NNC Group, they are also developing a secondary registry system to store DPF records, which will be offered as a service to other TLD applicants who want to utilize it.[2]

To ensure Internet safety and security, registrants for every .secure domain names are required to accept and agree to "rigorous Acceptable Use and Security Control Policies," and to submit a proof of identity, copies of business documents, and trademark registration, which will be verified manually by the company's legal and compliance team to ensure authenticity.[3]

NCC Group plans to invest £6m within the next 15 months to develop the .secure gTLD.[4] The company has also received $9m in investment backing.[5]
