David Ng has been devoted to the advocacy of children's rights in Hong Kong and international level since 1999 when he was selected to be one of the Ambassadors of United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). He then co-founded Kids' Dream, the first child-led organization based in Hong Kong, promoting children's rights locally and regionally since 2006.
To continue the journey of advocacy, David has put his focus on promoting the well-being of next generation on cyberspace. As one of the founding members of DotKids Foundation, he attended and spoke in various International platforms since 2012, including United Nations Internet Governance Forum, Asia Pacific Regional Internet Governance Forum, ITU Child Online Protection Initiative meeting, UNCRC’s Day of General Discussion 2014 and RightsCon SouthEast Asia, in a bid to create a friendly and safer Internet for children and youth.
Simultaneously, David was worked in the Information Technology industry in the past 5 years, responsible for supporting the Internet development and adoption in Asia, including the empowerment of children and youth for the sustainable growth of Internet. Being the coordinator of youth volunteers network, NetMission.Asia, he facilitated young people and coordinated with business and civil society partners to organize various engagement programs such as Asia Pacific Youth IGF (www.yigf.asia), NextGen@ICANN (www.ngi.asia) and Asia Pacific Internet Governance Academy (APIGA), so as to bring more voices of youth to the table of Internet Governance Discourse.
And now David is studying Master Degree on Children's Rights in University College London. Meanwhile, he is also served as one the founders of eHelp Association (www.ehelp.org.hk), based in Hong Kong, which is of the joint force of different stakeholders locally and globally to combat the dissemination of Child sexual abuse materials online.
