Joe Alagna is a Director of Business Development at Afilias. He was formerly a V.P. of Channel Development at 101domain.[1] He is well-known as the former General Manager of North American Markets for CentralNic, a London based domain name registry,[2] which he left in February, 2013.[3] He started at CentralNic in 2001, and worked with building relationships with the many registrars it works with and its 60 new gTLD clients.[4][5] He was influential in establishing CentralNic as the largest sub-domain registry in the world, and was responsible for creating their specialized division, Personal Net Names,[6] a division that allowed domainers to quickly offer their own sub-domains to the general market and subsequently became their TLD registry product.[7]

He lives in Southern California.[8]

Career History[edit | edit source]

Mr. Alagna has held sales management positions at other companies, such as Lynk Systems and AT&T.[9] In the 80s he helped build a leading sales team for a Chicago based direct sales team. He then moved to California, noticed the burgeoning mobile market, and joined AT&T as a national account manager. He was in charge of some the company's largest accounts. His eye for market trends led him to the Internet in its commercial development phase in the mid 90s. He has become an expert on domains, SEO, PPC, and online marketing.

Joe maintains his own portfolio of domains, and volunteers for the Inland Empire Small Business Center, teaching classes in Online Marketing. Joe has spoken at ICANN, The Direct Marketing Association Conference, NamesCon, and Targeted Traffic Conferences.[10]
