Milton Kaoru Kashiwakura is the current chair of NAPLA (Network Access Points Latin America) and PTT Metro Technical Coordinator. PTT is the Portuguese acronym for Internet Exchange Point.[1] He is special Projects and Development Director of NIC.br.[2] He has been Engineering Manager at CGI.br since September 2004.[3]

Milton is a member of Center of Study and Research in Network Technology and Operations-CEPTRO .[4]

Career History edit

Milton served as Network Director and Engineer at Electronic Computer Center at the University of Sao Paulo, from 1983 to 1997. He was Technical Coordinator at ANSP, the Academic Network at Sao Paulo created by FAPESP, from 1998 to 2001.He was Network Manager at IG, the main ISP in Brazil, from 2001 to 2004.[5]

Milton has projected and implemented:

  • The first NAP in Brazil.
  • Advanced ANSP, the Academic Network of the State of Sao Paulo.
  • RedeUSP, the Network of the University of Sao Paulo.[6]

He completed his masters in Electronic Engineering at Escola Politacnica University of Sao Paulo, in 1990.[12]
