.政府 is a Hani Chinese IDN gTLD, translating to "public affairs" and equated to ".gov", being proposed in ICANN's New gTLD Program. The applicant is Net-Chinese.[1]
The application was issued a GAC Early Warning. The warning system is noted as a strong recommendation on behalf of national governments to the ICANN Board that a given TLD application should be denied as it stands. Applicants are encouraged to work with objecting GAC members.[2]
The warning states that the applicant is "problematic and should not proceed", and that the string is confusingly similar to government owned and operated sites though it has no widespread and official government purposed.[3]
