.archi is short term for the word "architecture" and a proposed (Niche TLD) submitted to ICANN under the new gTLD expansion program by Starting Dot, a French start-up company seeking to serve as registry operator. Starting dot plans to restrict the registration of .archi domain names to certified architects and for those individuals who graduated with a degree in architecture. [1]
The application for .archi string is supported by the Paris-based International Architectural Union, the umbrella trade organization of more than one million architects. [2]
