.budapest is a GeoTLD in ICANN's New gTLD Program. The successful applicant is MMX, also known as Minds + Machines. It was delegated to the Root Zone of the DNS on the 23rd September, 2014, completing the successful application for the string.[1]
Background
The application for the .budapest string is supported by the government of the city of Budapest and it was submitted by MMX, which will use the back-end registry services of Nominet.[2] It has no proposed registration requirements that will limit registration to the citizens or companies physically located within Budapest.
Intended Use
.budapest is a new geographic top-level domain targeted to Budapest businesses and brands and Budapest-associated companies and products such as cuisine and tourism. There are no nexus requirements to register a .budapest domain name.
