.buy is a new generic top level domain name (gTLD) proposed to the New gTLD Program of ICANN.

Applicants

There are several applicants for the .buy string seeking the approval of the internet governing body to include the gTLD in the Root Zone of the internet domain name system and to serve as registry operator. The applicants include: [1]

  1. PVT Registry, LLC- Joshua Bourne, Managing partner of the domain name consultancy firm, Fair Winds Partners is the contact person in the application.
  2. dot Buy Limited- The company's application for the .buy string is handled by Famous Four Media, a registry service provider based in Gibraltar taht applied for 61 new gTLDs. [2]
  3. Bitter Sunset, LLC, is another company created by Donuts to submit its application for the domain name string. Donuts applied for 307 new gTLDs under different company names. Daniel Schindler, the company's EVP for Sales & Marketing is the main contact person. [3]
  4. Amazon, this is one of the 76 new gTLDs applied for by the company through its office in Luxembourg. [4] Valideus, a firm specializing in domain name and IP technology solutions and registry services for corporate brands helped Amazon in its application for gTLDs.
  5. Charleston Road Registry Inc.-Google applied for different new gTLDs including .buy under this company name. Sarah Falvey, Senior Policy Analyst of Google is the main contact person in the application. [5]
