.dotafrica is an applied-for geoTLD in ICANN's New gTLD Program. The applicant is DotConnectAfrica. The organization has been vying to run the registry for .africa since 2006; they announced that their application for .dotfrica was a mistake, a result of a misunderstanding of how the string field was supposed to be filled in.[1] On June 19th, ICANN announced that it was looking into the possibility of allowing companies to fix mistakes in their applications.[2]
