.drive is a proposed generic top level domain name (gTLD) to ICANN's new gTLD expansion program.

Applicants

Tech giants Google and Amazon applied to serve as registry operator for the .drive domain name space.

Google applied for the string under the company name Charleston Road Registry Inc., which applied for a total of 101 new gTLDs. Sarah Falvey, Senior Policy Analyst of Google is the main contact person in the application. [1]

On the other hand, Amazon's application for the string was filed by its office in Lixembourg. The company submitted 76 gTLD applications. [2]

Amazon and Google are competing for a total of 21 domain name strings. [3]
