.expert is an active gTLD that was proposed in ICANN's New gTLD Program. Donuts (Magic Pass, LLC) is the Registry and manager of the TLD.
The string originally had two applicants, Minardos Group and Donuts, though the latter won in a private auction in August 2013 held by Innovative Auctions. The total amount was not disclosed though the 8 total auctions that were cumulatively valued at $9.65 million.[1]
The proposed Donuts application succeeded and was delegated to the Root Zone on 23 January 2014.[2]
Contract Signed
On November 21, 2013 Donuts received a Registry Agreement signed by ICANN for .expert after passing the Initial Evaluation.[3]
Delegation and Availability
.expert was delegated to the Root Zone of the DNS on January 23, 2014, completing the successful application for the string.[2]
