.gifts is a proposed top level domain name to the New gTLD Program of ICANN.

Current Applicants

  1. Donuts (Goose Sky, LLC)- The company filed for the most number of gTLDs for a total of 307, and it was able to raise $100 million capital from various investors including multi-billion dollar venture capital and private equity funds and a top-tier bank. The company plans to operate the TLD in accordance with ICANN's objective to promote competition and innovation. The registration for domain names under the .gifts space will be open to a wide range of registrants to give them the opportunity to create and establish their own unique identity. Donuts partnered with Demand Media as its back-end registry provider; AusRegistry to provide DNS services and DNSSEC, [[Equinix] and SuperNap will provide datacenter facilities and infrastructure, and Iron Mountain to provide data escrow services. Daniel Schindler, co-founder and EVP for Marketing and Sales, is the main contact person in the application. [1]

Lucy Ventures, LLC- The company is located in New York and its main objective in applying for the TLD is to a trusted, hierarchical, and intuitive online marketplace for gift-related products, services, and information. The company plans to sell .gifts domain names through ICANN accredited registrars and to reserve and auction premium domain names. Afilias will provide its back-end registry services.[2]
