.hiv is a proposed TLD for spreading awareness and joining in the fight against HIV and AIDs. It is an initiative of BetterPlace.org and is supported by members of the ICANN community, the medical sciences community, and the HIV awareness community.[1] The application for the TLD is set to be submitted in January, 2012.[2]

One goal is that every major website currently under a different TLD could create a .hiv version; then the traffic and revenue created on the .hiv site could result in a donation to organizations fighting HIV and AIDs.[3] Anyone, who is interested in the project, can contribute towards it by contacting dot hiv through their email address.
