.hiv is a proposed TLD for spreading awareness, raising funds, and joining in the fight against HIV and AIDS. The German non-profit organisation is supported by the creative agency Kempertrautmann, the online donation plattform betterplace.org, members of the ICANN community, the medical sciences community, and members of the HIV communities.[1] The application for the TLD is set to be submitted in January, 2012.[2]

The difference: Every click on a .hiv-domain will result in a microdonation to organizations fighting HIV and AIDS, financed trough the accumulated registration fees. [3]
