.ieee is a Community Brand TLD being proposed in ICANN's New gTLD Program. The applicant is .IEEE Global LLC,[1] [which] has more than 400,000 members around the world. This makes it the world’s largest educational and scientific organization dedicated to advancing technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity. The only allowed registrant in the new gTLD will be IEEE Global LLC (“IEEE Global”). Control of content in the gTLD will be limited to IEEE, IEEE’s corporate subsidiaries, and IEEE’s organizational units. (IEEE’s organizational units are not legally separate or autonomous entities, but groupings of members, organized by geographic area, technical specialty, or other area of interest.)"[2]"
