.red is a proposed TLD in ICANN's New gTLD Program. There were originally two applicants, Donuts and Afilias, but the latter won the contention set in a private gTLD auction for an undisclosed amount. It was auctioned off in the first round of such auctions held by Cramton Associates in June 2013.[1]
Donuts submitted a Public Interest Commitment, which can be downloaded here.
