Ashwin Rangan joined ICANN in March 2014 as the company's Chief Innovation and Information Officer, where he applies IT solutions to address real-world business problems.[1][2]

Rangan has over 15 years as a CIO with board-level experience in large, publicly traded companies, including Edwards Lifesciences (medical devices), Wal-Mart (retail), Conexant (semiconductors), and Rockwell (conglomerate).[1]

He serves as a Member of the Board of Directors for Smart Utility Systems and as an Advisory Board Member for Marketshare; he enjoys entrepreneurship and helping young companies as a board contributor. His volunteer experience also includes serving as a Member of the Board of Directors for the American Red Cross's Desert to the Sea Chapter, as Board Member for UC Irvine's Center for Digital Transformation, and as a Member of the Working Group for the World Economic Forum.[1]

As of ICANN 51 in Los Angeles, he had been to over two ICANN Meetings.[2] He is also involved with ICANN through ALAC and RSSAC.[2]

Amongst his proudest life achievements, he lists bringing up a set of twins who are now in their early 20s. Of his goals, he hopes to make ICANN a vibrant place for stakeholders. Though he was born in India, he grew up in East Africa and "can speak passable Swahili".[2]
