UnderConstruction.png Bertrand de la Chapelle is currently a member of the Board of Directors at ICANN and a Program Director at International Diplomatic Academy.

Mr. de la Chapelle has excused himself at least once from voting on issues related to ICANN's new gTLD program as per a conflict of interests policy passed in 2011.[1]

Past Work

Bertrand held many positions in the French government and represented French government in many international forums. His first post in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was as in charge of German Desk, which was responsible for french-german relationships. Then he worked in the ministry of foreign affairs in many capacities.

In 1993 he founded Virtools and was the CEO of the company until 1998.

From 1998 he was a Member of the G-8 Digital Opportunities Task Force (DOT Force), one of the first multi-stakeholder efforts in the field of ICTs. From 2002 to 2006 he worked as the Director OpenWSIS / WSIS-Online. From 2006 he represented the French government in the Information Society and Internet Governance Forum until November 2010.[2]

Education

He received his education from Ecole nationale d'Administration, Institut d'Etudes politiques de Paris and Ecole polytechnique.[3]
