Byron Holland is the President and CEO of the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA), a position he has held since January 2008.[1] He is currently Chair of the Customer Standing Committee, the first to hold the position following the IANA functions stewardship transition. Byron is also Vice-Chair of ICANN's ccNSO. He served as Chair of the ccNSO from 2013 through 2016 .[2][3]

Career History

His focus is on security, stability and resiliency of the .CA domain name system (DNS) and sound operation and policy development that supports the .CA registry. In striving for operational excellence, Holland provides sound financial management, ensures exceptional customer service, and observes and implements globally recognized best practices at CIRA. He also represents Canadian interests in numerous international fora, including at the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and the Internet Governance Forum (IGF).

Prior to that, Holland was a founding partner and the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Futura Rewards, the third largest coalition loyalty program in Canada. At Futura, Holland oversaw the development and growth of the company from a small upstart to a publicly traded company with more than 100 brand partners and 400,000 members. [4][5]

Education

Holland holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honours from the University of Western Ontario and a Master of Business Administration from Queen’s University. He also holds his ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors. [6]
