Chris Disspain is the former CEO of .au Domain Administration Ltd. auDA which manages the .au domain space for the benefit of Australian Internet users. On March 24 2016, AuDA announced that Disspain would be departing from the organization in order to make room for new leadership. [1]

Chris was a corporate lawyer in the U.K. and Australia and since 1985 has held executive management positions and directorships in private and public companies.

Until he stood down in March 2011, Chris was the Chair, since its foundation in June 2004, of the Country Code Name Supporting Organisation (ccNSO), the body that represents the interests of and sets global policy and best practice for country code top level domains within ICANN

From 2006 to 2014 Chris was a member of the United Nations Secretary-General's Internet Governance Multi-stakeholder Advisory Group.

Chris was selected by the ccNSO to join the ICANN board in June 2011. He is the Chair of ICANN's Board Governance Committee. He also sits on the Board of The Internet Society of Australia.

Chris’s work with these organisations ensures that the Australian Internet-using community has a voice and representation in some of the most influential forums. In his time as CEO for auDA, Chris has been responsible for establishing a range of community programs, for the support and growth of the Internet in Australia:

  • The Australian Internet Governance Forum (auIGF)
  • The Australia & New Zealand Internet Awards (ANZIA)
  • The auDA Foundation
  • Community Geographic Domain Names (CGDN)

Chris has played a key role in helping to demystify the domain name space and promoting the multi-stakeholder model, both in Australia and Internationally.
