DNS Belgium is the organization that manages the registration under domain names under .be accounts.[1]
DNS Belgium
DNS Belgium has been created in 1999 by ISPA, Betug and Agoria. The most important services that DNS Belgium covers relate to stimulating cooperation between the Internet service providers, organizing all details for registration from technical ones to regulatory issues. [2] DNS.be is organized with a Board of Directors and a Strategic Committee.
The Board is the major controlling entity formed of three members.
The Strategic Committee is formed of representatives of founding members (representatives of ISPA, Agoria and Betug, effective members (prof. Pierre Verbaeten) and advisory members (the Belgian Institute of Postal and Telecommunications Services). Currently, there are in total 9 members in this committee.
Prof. Pierre Verbaeten is an effective member of the Strategic Committee due to his high level of involvement in the domain name market since 1989 when he started registering the first domains in Belgium. [3]
Currently, the General Director of DNS.be is Mr. Philip Du Bois.[4]
