Domain Name Security Threat Information Collection and Reporting Project

The Domain Name Security Threat Information Collection and Reporting (DNSTICR) is a project led by the ICANN Office of the Chief Technology Officer investigating registrations related to the COVID-19 pandemic. It seeks evidence of any activity related to malware or phishing. The ICANN Organization sends a report to the responsible registry or registrar when it finds malicious activity in one of its domain names so that it can act.[1] In late spring 2022, ICANN org began adding terms in English, Ukrainian, Russian, Polish, and other languages to the DNSTICR watchlist to search for malicious domain registrations related to the Russia-Ukraine war.[2]
