History
Dot VN, Inc. is co-founded by Mr. Thomas M. Johnson and Dr. Lee P. Johnson in 1998.[1] It is the principal domain registry for country code Top Level Domain .vn (ccTLD) in Vietnam. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Hi-Tek Multimedia, Inc. which received a long-term contract from the Vietnamese government as the sole provider of internet and telecommunications infrastructure solutions and services in the country.
Dot VN, Inc. is the only company given the authority by the Vietnam Network Information Center (VNNIC) to register and approve domain names submitted for registration by any entity. Its network is directly connected to the agency’s root server. VNNIC is under the Ministry of Information and Communication (MIC) in Vietnam and it is responsible in managing, allocating, supervising and promoting the use of Internet domain names, addresses, autonomous system numbers, providing Internet-related guidance, statistics on Internet usage. It also represents the country in any internet-related events and conferences.
In 2009, the Vietnamese government through VNNIC also granted Dot VN, Inc. the contract to market PPC parking page, commercialize advertising around the world in the Internet and the exclusive rights to distribute and sell mobile data center solutions and multi-gigabit wireless applications in Vietnam and its neighboring countries in Southeast Asia.
At present, Dot VN. Inc. has 90 local resellers and more than 100 international resellers for the domain registry (.vn).Its main office is located in San Diego California and it maintains offices in Hanoi, Danang and Ho Chi Minh cities in Vietnam.

Recent Developments
On February 28, 2011, Dot VN, Inc. received the approval of VNNIC to operate a new registration platform and manage the development of Vietnam’s native language internationalized domain name (IDN). The company also partnered with the German company Key-Systems GmbH, [3] to use its KSregistry System and provide registration and management to power the .vn IDN.
