The first GNSO Council Strategic Planning Session will be held 29 January 2018 to 31 January 2018 in Los Angeles, United States.

This will be a focused and dedicated face-to-face meeting in which the elected Councilors of the GNSO Council will work to develop a work plan for the year ahead.

Although the GNSO Council meets face-to-face at ICANN meetings three times per year, there has never been sufficient time to focus on long-term strategic planning. Accordingly, this is a new meeting that has been created to allow the Council to adhere to its new responsibilities as a part of the Empowered Community following the IANA transition.
