Earlier in his career, he was a Special Agent at the U.S' Federal Bureau of Investigation for 20 years, where he conducted investigations of computer intrusions, cyber crimes and national security cyber matters. Prior to that he was a Project Manager at The Anschutz Corporation. From 1981 to 1984, he was the Project Geophysicist at Amoco.
