The Global Commission on Internet Governance is an international project chaired by Carl Bildt that will provide concrete policy recommendations for the future of internet governance. It is planned to be a two-year project, starting in May 2014, that will culminate in an official report. Some of the key issues to be examined by the commission include governance, legitimacy, regulation, innovation, online rights and systemic risk.[1]
It was launched by two independent global think tanks, the Centre for International Governance Innovation and Chatham House.[2]
It intends to "help educate the wider public on the most effective ways to promote Internet access, while simultaneously championing the principles of freedom of expression and the free flow of ideas over the Internet."[3]
