Lawrence Ng is Co-founder and Chairman of the Board of Oversee.net and is known for being a particularly young entrepreneur.[1]
Past Experiences
Throughout college and university classes, Lawrence Ng had many concomitant jobs that helped him better understand the business world. Among these were:
- Intern at Merrill Lynch
- Financial consult at Smith Barney
- Intern at StartPath, a Internet advertising agency where he met Fred Hsu, the colleague with whom he would later establish Oversee.net [2]
The Idea
In 2000, when Startpath went bankrupt, a 21-year old Lawrence and his friend Fred Hsu decided to start their own business. Using only their own savings, about 10.000$, the two created a small office for Oversee.net.The success of the company grew as they acquired Domain Sponsor, followed by SnapNames and Moniker. Lawrence Ng's idea was to create a service that would be a "one-stop shop" for domainers.[3]

In January 2012, Oversee sold its Moniker and SnapNames business units to KeyDrive S.A.

Lawrence Ng, received the prestigious Ernst & Young Award for "Entrepreneur of the Year" in the greater Los Angeles area in the technology category in 2007.[6]
Oversee.net is one of the co-founders of the Internet Commerce Association, a non-profit association that represents the interests of domain owners. ICA is an important participant in the development of rules and regulations that relate to Internet issues and also in the dispute resolution process established by ICANN.[7]
