Michael Niebel is responsible for the network and information society area within the European Commission's "Directorate General for Information Society and Media".

He is basically responsible for issues related to ".eu" websites and the EU's relations with the European Network and Information Security Agency  (ENISA). [1]
He is a European Commission's representative within many summits and conferences such as:
  • the World Summit on Information Society
  • representative within Governmental Advisory Committee (GAC) of ICANN.[2]
