NIXI (National Internet eXchange of India) is a non for profit Organization registered under Section – 25 of the Companies Act 1956 on July 19, 2003.[1] It was designated to neutrally facilitate the exchange of domestic traffic between peering ISP members. The company also manages the .IN Registry since 2005.
The organization's internet exchange points are located in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi,Hyderaba, Mohali, Mumbai, Lucknow and Kolkota.[2]

NIXI and ICANN
In 2009, ICANN received a request from NIXI to re-delegate the .in ccTLD to the organization as the new registry operator in India and it was evaluated by IANA.[5]
NIXI particpated in the ICANN 31st meeting in New Delhi that was hosted by the government of India.[6]
