Ole J. Jacobsen is the Editor and Publisher of The Internet Protocol Journal;[1] and he has more than 25 years publishing experience in Internet technical information.

He was introduced to networking in 1976. His first involvement was with the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment (NDRE), an early ARPANET site.

He serves on the board of the Asia Pacific Internet Association which hosts the annual APRICOT event. In March, 2008, he was appointed by the IESG to serve as a member of the IETF Administrative Oversight Committee. Mr. Jacobsen attends the NANOG, and RIPE community events.[2]

Ole has been the Vice President for Chapters for ISOC,[3] a NomCom member for ICANN, and Editor and a Publisher at Ziff-Davis.

Mr. Jacobsen worked with Interop Company, now known as CMP United Business Media, from 1987 until 1998. He was the Editor and Publisher of ConneXions - The Interoperability Report, published by the Interop Company. The ConneXions archive is available online.[4]

Education

Jacobsen holds a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering and Computing Science from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, England (1978 - 1983). He has also studied at Lillestrøm Gymnas, Lillestrøm, Norway (1973 - 1976) and Den Norske Skolen, Kobe, Japan (1965 - 1969).
