Patrick Vande Walle is a member of the At-Large Advisory Committee and the Security and Stability Advisory Committee, as well a member of the Board of Trustees of The Internet Society. He is also the founder of the DotSport Registry project, an applicant for the .sport Top Level Domain. Additionally, he is an official at the European Commission. He previously served on The Internet Society's board of trustees.

He is a long time ICANN participant, and has provided input to several policy work processes. He was instrumental in hosting ICANN's Luxembourg meeting in 2005.[1]

Past Work

He was the founder and chairman of the Luxembourg chapter of The Internet Society.[2]

Previously, he was a Project Manager for New Information Technologies at the European Commission - Publications Office, an assistant at DG Information Society at the European Commission, an assistant of DG Research at the European Commission, Systems and Telecoms Manager of the trading room at Paribas Bank, and Unix and Groupware Specialist at WordPerfect.

Interests

Patrick is interested in new technologies and Internet governance. Patrick was an early proponent of the Internet and is said to have been online in one way or another ever since the beginning of Fidonet and 2400 bps modems.

He is fluent in several languages, including, French, Dutch, English, and Perl.
