Before joining APNIC,  Wilson served as Chief Executive Officer of Pegasus Networks, one of the pioneering private [[ISP]]s in  Australia. He was one of the founding staff members of the company in 1989. His first job was Technical Director until he assumed the position of CEO in 1992. At the same time, he was involved in various international internet projects in developing countries as Consultant to the United Nations.
